Emmanuel Kofi Tetteh George, the younger brother of Ghanaian legislator and Minister for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovation Sam Nartey ‘Dzata’ George, has revealed how he met his wife, Ewoenam Ruth.
George, in a video shared to social media following his wedding, explained the genesis of his romance with his wife, revealing it kicked off from social media, more specifically, Snapchat.
According to George, he met Ruth on Snapchat, and they started communicating together, culminating in their shock wedding.
The new Mr. and Mrs. George are both residents of Germany, and the former was working the night shift at his place of employment one day when he went online and found someone to chat with.
George said due to working the night shift, he’s usually alone on the app but when he opened it this fateful day, another person was online, and they started bonding.
“I was at work working the night shift [and] I opened Snapchat. Normally I was alone always on Snapchat but I opened the app and I saw her [and} texted her,” George said. “She happened to be awake, we started to talk, it became a friendship and today we’re getting married.”
Emmanuel Tetteh George and Ewoenam Ruth got married in a beautiful ceremony held in Tema, Accra, on Saturday, April 12, 2025. A younger brother of the Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, George lives and works in Germany and met his future wife there.
The wedding became a viral phenomenon on social media, particularly due to the Minister’s appearance as a groomsman. George ‘trended’ on social media after taking to the dancefloor to show off his moves, revealing he was not just a communication and legislative savant but also a dance guru as well.
