‘My Exposés Have Saved Ghana Millions; I Don’t Do It For Personal Or Political Gain’ – Ablakwa

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu in the Volta Region of Ghana, has dismissed claims that his various exposé’s, launched over the past eight years to expose government corruption, were either politically motivated or aimed at his own personal political gain.

Speaking before Parliament’s Appointments Committee during his vetting to become the next Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ablakwa said his work should be judged in the context of the benefit that it has accrued to the people of Ghana and not in such start political terms.

According to Ablakwa – who was named the Chairman of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Committee that was tasked with identifying corrupt practices during the erstwhile NPP administration – his work within the past eight years has saved Ghana millions of dollars.

Ablakwa claimed that many of his exposé’s managed to halt several bad dealings and contracts that saved the taxpayer millions.

“My exposés about wrongdoings have saved this country millions of dollars. If we do not remain alert and call out financial irregularities, Ghana will continue to lose vital resources that could be used for development,” he said.

Ablakwa added that he would make no apologies for his crusade to save Ghana money and that all he has done has been in the best interest of Ghanaians and ‘for God and country’, as he often says, and not for his own political gain.
