Nana Aba Anamoah has cleared the air about the misconception that she only speaks English and disregards speakers of local languages. During a conversation with Nana Romeo on Accra 100.5 FM’s Ayekoo Ayekoo midmorning show, the media personality and TV executive shared her thoughts on the matter.

“I don’t even like speaking English that much,” Nana Aba confessed, adding, “Speaking plenty of English doesn’t even bring in much money.” She emphasized that she regularly communicates in local languages like Twi, Fante, Ga, and Ewe, noting that her mother is Ewe.

Nana Aba also expressed her disappointment with admirers who hesitate to approach her in person, fearing they would be expected to speak English, but feel comfortable texting her on Instagram instead. “I love local languages, I’m even looking for someone to teach me Hausa,” she revealed.

Nana Aba further pointed out that a university graduate’s English should be more advanced than that of a primary school student, emphasizing the importance of education. “There’s a reason you’re investing in your education,” she noted.

In conclusion, Nana Aba Anamoah reassured her fans that despite her careful approach to English, she is not a snob. She made it clear that she is approachable, warm, and always happy to engage with others. She humorously added that she is aware that many people are likely more fluent in English than she is.
