Kenny Law, of Law’s Choice Distillery in Franklin County VA, known for his turn on the long-running television series Moonshiners, has died.
Law’s Choice distillery, which Kenny operates with his cousin Henry – who also appeared on Moonshiners – shared the news of Kenny’s death in a social media post.
“With sorrow, we announce that Everett “Kenny” Law passed away peacefully on January 14, 2024, surrounded by loved ones,” Law’s Choice Distillery shared in a post authored by Henry Lee Law.
Henry and Kenny Law began learning the art of brewing moonshine as kids under the tutelage of Amos Law, Henry’s Dad, who was a well-known outlaw moonshiner. Amos founded Law’s Choice Distillery which is currently owned by Henry.
The duo entered popular culture following their stint on the Discovery Channel show Moonshiners. Known collectively as ‘The Laws’, their daring trade gripped the hearts of viewers and collectively entered them into folklore.
Their notoriety is also aided by their long family history of Moonshining. According to legend, Amos Law started his career as a Franklin County moonshiner aged only sixteen, in 1952. He built Law’s Choice into a massive business with distribution up and down the East Coast. Henry Law took over the business after his father and has kept the family tradition going with the help of Kenny.
News of Kenny’s death rippled through the Moonshiners fandom like wildfire and elicited tender tributes.
“Last Night We Lost a True Legend, Kenny Law from our Moonshiner Family. You will be dearly missed, it was an Honor to know you and call you my friend. Rest Easy Big Guy,” said Amanda Bryant, also of Moonshiners.
