Ghanaian content creator based in the United States, Naana Donkor Arthur, has advised Ghanaians aged 40 and above to reconsider their decisions to travel abroad in search of greener pastures.
Speaking in a recent interview, NDA, as she is popularly called, highlighted the physical and emotional toll of relocating to foreign countries at an advanced age.
According to her, people above 40 often lack the stamina required to endure the rigorous demands of working long hours in foreign countries.
“It becomes increasingly challenging to keep up with the workload abroad, especially for those who are unfamiliar with the high-pressure environment,” she explained.
Instead, Naana Donkor Arthur encouraged individuals in this age group to focus on building better opportunities for themselves within Ghana. She emphasized the importance of leveraging their existing skills, resources, and networks to improve their lives locally rather than enduring the hardships that come with “starting over” abroad.
“At 40 and above, you should be focusing on creating stability, building wealth, and leaving a legacy in your own country. Relocating to hustle in a foreign land at that age may not yield the outcomes you expect. If you travel abroad in your 20s or early 30s, you have better chance at succeeding that traveling in your 40s” she added.
