The Director General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Sammy Awuku, has officially resigned from his position, effective 13th January 2025.
The decision follows his election as the Member of Parliament for the Akuapem North Constituency, a position he has now assumed to represent his constituents in Parliament.
In his resignation letter addressed to President John Dramani Mahama, Mr. Awuku expressed his intention to focus on his duties as a Member of Parliament.
He noted that his new responsibilities require his full commitment and attention to serve his constituents effectively.
Mr. Awuku was appointed as Director General of the NLA in August 2021 and received confirmation from the Public Services Commission in July 2022.
During his tenure, he oversaw significant developments in the authority, contributing to its growth and operational efficiency.
In the letter, he respectfully requested that the President appoint a suitable replacement for the role to ensure a smooth transition and the effective continuation of the NLA’s operations. He also extended his best wishes to the President in all his endeavours.
