‘We Don’t Like Stup!d!ty, Between NDC And NPP, Someone Is Lying’ – Vim Lady Speaks On Looming ‘Dumsor’ Crisis

Published by

Media personality Afia Pokua, also known as Vim Lady, has demanded clarity from authorities regarding the looming energy crisis in Ghana. Her concerns follow claims by Energy Minister-designate John Abdulai Jinapor that the outgoing Nana Addo-led government failed to secure fuel for power generation, putting the country at risk. This revelation has sparked intense debates online, with some accusing the NPP of sabotage and others mocking the NDC for leading the nation back into ‘dumsor.’

Afia questioned why the crisis persists despite previous claims by both parties about addressing power issues. She said, “In 2014-2015, the reason ‘dumsor’ was a problem during the NDC’s tenure was because they said there were issues with our generation capacity. When the NPP came into power and renegotiated, they stated that the problem was not with generation capacity, but with financial capabilities. So why are we going back to ‘dumsor’ now? Between the NDC and NPP, someone is lying. Not now that the NPP said to have signed two purchasing agreements.”

She urged the Parliamentary Select Committee on Energy to investigate, adding, “We don’t like stupidity. ‘Dumsor’ is a painful experience, and if care is not taken, someone could go to jail for causing financial loss. There is no reason for someone to sign a power purchasing agreement and still face this crisis.”
