Seidu Abubakar, the man seen in a viral video lifting a police barricade at the Black Stars Square during John Mahama’s inauguration, has finally shared his side of the story. The incident, which showed Seidu defying community police officers as they tried to calm him down, quickly caught the attention of social media users.
According to Seidu, it all started when he was assigned to distribute complimentary cards to some individuals. After handing out two of the cards, he returned to the event grounds and encountered two elderly women standing by the barricade. They explained that they had traveled from a far town to witness the swearing-in ceremony, as they had voted for John Mahama. However, the community police had prevented them from entering, despite a senior police officer previously granting them access.
Feeling concerned, Seidu engaged the women in conversation and learned that they had been stuck outside for some time. The tension escalated when the senior officer returned to instruct the community police to let the women through, but they refused to comply. Seidu questioned their defiance of their superior’s orders, only to be met with threat of violence.
Frustrated by the disrespect and the unfair treatment of the elderly women, Seidu lifted the barricade and allowed them, along with others, to enter the grounds.
