President John Dramani Mahama has unveiled his first set of ministerial appointments, a major milestone in his administration’s efforts to advance national development. The key nominees include Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson as the Minister for Finance Designate, Mr. John Abdulai Jinapor as the Minister for Energy Designate, and Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine as the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Designate.
Dr. Forson, a seasoned economist and chartered accountant, is appointed as Minister for Finance Designate. With his vast experience in public finance, macroeconomics, and fiscal policy, he is expected to strengthen Ghana’s financial management and lead vital fiscal reforms. A five-term Member of Parliament, Dr. Forson holds a PhD in Finance from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and Master’s degrees in Taxation and Economics from the University of Oxford and KNUST, respectively.
Mr. Jinapor, appointed as Minister for Energy Designate, brings a wealth of knowledge in energy economics and finance. With a Master of Arts in Economic Policy Management, an MBA in Marketing, and a Master of Science in Energy Economics, he is poised to address Ghana’s energy challenges and inject energy into the sector.
Dr. Ayine, nominated as Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Designate, is a distinguished lawyer with over 30 years of experience. His prior role as Deputy Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, along with his expertise in law and legal reforms, positions him to lead crucial changes in Ghana’s legal and judicial systems. Dr. Ayine holds a PhD in Law from Stanford University and an LLM from the University of Michigan Law School.
The nominations have been sent to Parliament’s Appointments Committee for vetting and approval, a key step in President Mahama’s plan to build a strong and capable team for his administration.
