I’ll Relocate Akufo-Addo’s Statue to Kyebi – Sekondi MP Blay Nyamekye Armah Vows

The current Member of Parliament for the Sekondi constituency in the Western Region, Blay Nyamekye Armah, has revealed that he plans to relocate the statue of President Akufo-Addo erected in his constituency back to his hometown in the Eastern Region.

Speaking during a press engagement, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP, serving his first term in Parliament, said he would send a petition to the President seeking permission to relocate the statue to Kyebi, former President Akufo-Addo’s hometown.

Nyamekye said the statue was not needed in his constituency and was only a vanity project by the former leader.

Recall that before the election, a statue of Nana Akufo-Addo was erected at the entrance of Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi as a thank-you to him for his development projects in the region.

Ghanaians roundly kicked against the statue, calling it underserved and a symbol of the government being out of touch.
