‘Billings Choke, Everybody Wants To Take’ – Spyro Opens Up About Being Insulted After Not Having Cash To Help

Published by

Nigerian singer Spyro, known for his hit song “Who’s Your Guy,” recently took to Instagram to reveal the challenges of being a celebrity in Lagos, particularly the constant financial pressure. In his candid post, Spyro shared how people often approach him for help, expecting him to provide, no matter the situation.

He explained that every time he steps out of his house, he spends at least N100,000, which adds up to a staggering N15 million annually on gifts and assisting others. Spyro recounted an experience where a man confronted him for not being able to help him immediately. “I told him I didn’t have anything and would see him the next day,” Spyro recalled. “He rained insults on me.”

The pressure doesn’t just come from strangers on the street. Spyro highlighted that the financial demands follow him everywhere: “If I enter a restaurant, the bill waits for me outside; I enter the church, the same thing… Enter the estate, the same; carry phone enter online, na the same thing,” he lamented.

Spyro’s openness has resonated with many of his colleagues in the entertainment industry, who face similar struggles. He praised them as the “real MVPs” for enduring the constant demands without consideration for their well-being.

This post has sparked a wider conversation about the emotional challenges of fame. Spyro’s words remind us that behind the glamour and spotlight, celebrities are human too, dealing with their own pressures and vulnerabilities.
