Prophet EJ Newton, the leader of the 433 Church in Miami, is trending after officers apparently stormed a live church service to effect his arrest following a report from his ex-wife.
A viral video of the moment is spreading like wildfire on social media, showing the preacher delivering the word to his church.
While in the midst of his sermon, officers off-camera could be heard requesting to have time to speak with him. The suprised ‘man of God’ then told his congregation he would handle it and stepped off to meet the police while telling his flock to keep praying.
The viral video which surfaced on social media had a caption indicating that EJ Newton was in trouble for kidnapping.
“Police stop church service in an attempt to arrest Prophet EJ Newton on kidnapping charges,” read one IG post.
Social media users were amused, with some praising the pastor for being smooth while others warned about false prophets.
It’s alleged the man of God failed to return his children following a visit, leading to his ex-wife informing the authorities.
EJ Newton responds
The social media narrative that Prophet Newton was being wanted for kidnapping was busted by him in a post on Instagram following the incident.

According to him, this is related to a child custody battle with his ex-wife.
“My ex-wife [is] claiming that I’m trying to flee the country in the middle of a parenting schedule case. A judge granted an emergency extraction. They had people come also into the service which we spotted,” EJ Newton shared on Instagram. “This whole thing has been so weird but let me be clear – I am not fleeing. I never planned to go anywhere. Now, they’re searching members’ cars and preventing them from leaving church grounds,”
The prophet vowed that he would not stop fighting until evil is exposed and the demonic forces are defeated.
EJ Newton and his ex are working through a child custody battle that appears to be turning ugly. Meanwhile, following his separation from his first wife, the man of God remarried in September, settling down with his current wife, Darrian Simone.
“I love you forever and ever Darrian. God gave me YOU,” Newton said following the wedding. “Thank you for standing with me through my highest moments and the lowest, most painful times. Thank you for loving my (now our) children.”
