A shooting at the Mall of Georgia Saturday left one person, high school sophomore Joel Bradford injured, and an 18-year-old arrested for the shooting.
Joel Bradford, 15, of Loganville, a football standout for Grayson High School, was the sole victim of the shooting and is currently injured and receiving treatment in hospital.
Shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, gunfire was heard at the Mall of Georgia. An officer working security heard the ruckus and ran toward the scene. The suspect, 18-year-old Khaden Javir Williams of DeKalb County, was seen attempting to flee the scene and was arrested.
A 15-year-old victim was spotted with a gunshot wound and was transported to hospital for treatment. Authorities did not identify him but his family, specifically Aukesha Curry of Grayson GA, identified him as Joel Bradford.
A fundraiser on spotfund is seeking donations to help his family. “This fundraiser has been created in order to receive your donations that will assist Joel Bradford and his family on his journey of recovery,” Curry said. “Joel is just beginning on his road to recovery but we know that our Champion will successfully get there with your continued support and love in action,”
Bradford, of the class of 2027 at Grayson, is a star running back for the Varsity football team. The 5’11” 183lbs, is already fielding offers from among others, the Georgia Bulldogs and Pittsburgh Panthers. He is also a point guard for the varsity basketball team.
Meanwhile, the mall of Georgia shooter, Khaden Williams, is being charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He’s being held without bond.
