At the first Holy Ghost Service of the year, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), declared a 100-day fasting and prayer period, urging members to seek divine intervention for global peace and to prevent a potential third World War.
Pastor Adeboye voiced his concern over rising conflicts worldwide, warning that unchecked tensions could spiral into a global crisis. “If there is a world war, it will affect you wherever you are,” he said, encouraging members to pray against the outbreak of new wars and the escalation of existing ones.
The fasting period will run from January 11 to April 21, 2025, with adjustments for older members. Those aged 70 to 80 may break their fast at 3 p.m., while those over 80 can do so at noon. Members aged 90 and above are advised not to fast at all.
The first 30 days of prayer will focus on Nigeria, addressing challenges like corruption and sabotage. Pastor Adeboye humorously noted that some prayers would be “violent” against individuals working to undermine the country’s progress. He also encouraged members to remain spiritually focused during the fast, advising them to talk less and join daily prayer meetings at 6 p.m.
On a global level, Pastor Adeboye called for prayers to prevent natural disasters such as floods, storms, and wildfires. He emphasized the need for vigilance, stating, “We must ensure old wars do not escalate into a third World War.”
In addition to the call for fasting and prayer, Pastor Adeboye shared a hopeful prophecy for 2025, predicting a year filled with breakthroughs, promotions, and celebrations. “The Lord says the day someone has been waiting for will happen this year,” he declared.
This 100-day spiritual exercise underscores the power of faith and collective prayer in addressing the world’s challenges and fostering peace and stability.
