Mary Ann Hansen, Little Rock Resident Brutally Murdered in Unhinged Attack by Neighbor

A Little Rock AR woman, Mary Ann Hansen was brutally murdered by a neighbor who also attacked and nearly killed his own mother.

Hansen died in the brutal attack that was perpetrated by her unhinged neigbor on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.

Eva Hansen, the daughter of the late Mary Ann, provided updates of the murder of her mom in a Facebook post.

Writing on January 2, she said: “Last night Stephan SJ James and I found out that our mother, Mary Ann, was tragically taken from us in a violent act. We are still trying to understand this situation, but we do know that the suspect was a neighbor, who also attacked his own mother. He was found by police, did not surrender, and is dead. His own mother is in critical condition last we heard. These are people we’ve known our whole lives,”

Mary was a music major at the University of Toledo, having grown up in the Ohio township. She moved on the study at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and at the Clinton School of Public Service. Hansen was a theatre buff and performed in numerous musicals including Oklahoma and others. Randy Eddy-McCain, who first shared the stage with Hansen at Murry’s Dinner Playhouse in the 80’s and had known her since then, paid tribute to her on her passing.

“I am in shock! My dear friend of 44 years, Mary Ann Hansen was tragically murdered last night…She was a dear friend. December 22nd, she came to our house for a Christmas party and we reminisced about our long friendship and shared several meaningful hugs. I cannot express how devastated I am at this news,” he said.

Hansen leaves behind two daughters.
