Dr Edward Klein, Dartmouth Orthopedic Surgeon Dies Unexpectedly

A beloved Dartmouth MA orthopedic surgeon, Dr Edward Klein has died unexpectedly, sparking shock among friends and family.

Klein’s death occurred early in the hours of Thursday, January 2, 2025. No cause of death was given.

The announcement came from a stunned patient and friend who shared the news on Facebook.

“I’m just hearing the news that Dr. Edward Klein from Hawthorne Medical passed away this morning. He took care of me a number of times and was not only a good surgeon but a very nice man. I got the sense that he truly cared about me and I was not just another patient. Your presence will be terribly missed,” Pete Braley said.

Dr Edward Klein was an orthopedic surgeon based in Dartmouth Ma where he worked with Hawthorn Medical Associates and St Anne’s Hospital, both affiliated with the Steward Group. He received his education at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. He went on to complete surgery residency at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine followed by a fellowship in adult joint reconstruction at Buffalo General Hospital/University of Buffalo.

Dr Klein has more than two decades of experience in treating knee replacement, hip replacement, arthritis, among other conditions. He has special expertise in less invasive hip and knee replacements, including direct interior approach hip replacements and utilizes the latest computerized digital advances in preparation for his surgeries.

Hawthorn Medical Associates released a tribute statement following Klein’s demise.

“The physicians and staff at Hawthord Medical are deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Edward Klen on January 2 2025 and express their heartfelt sympathies to his family,” the statement read. “Dr. Klein, a well-respected Orthopedic Surgeon, practiced at Hawthorn Medical for more than 22 years. He will be deeply missed by his colleagues and his patients,”
