Melissa Carleen, a newly registered nurse in Florida has been killed after a car crash in West Palm Beach.

The 25-year-old died in the crash that occurred in the early hours of Sunday, December 29th, 2024 in Downtown West Palm Beach.

Two people were crossing Banyan Boulevard along Rosemary Avenue at around 3:25 a.m. when they were hit by a Tesla driving westbound on Banyan Blvd.

Both pedestrians were transported to the hospital where Melissa succumbed to her wounds. The man is in serious condition and already underwent surgery.

According to West Palm Beach Police, Carleen and the other man were crossing at the crosswalk when the accident occurred however, the driver of the Tesla had a green light. No criminal charges have been filed at this time.

Melissa Carleen graduated Southern Regional High School and had only completed her courses to become a Registered Nurse in July. “From a student to a nurse, my dreams became a reality. Call me Melissa Carleen , RN. Im so grateful for all the support from my family & friends,” she had written in a September 1 post.

Her death stunned many, some of whom took to social media to mourn.

“Completely heartbreaking. Rest in the sweetest paradise my sweet sweet angel Melissa Carleen I’ll love you always. I am so blessed to have known and loved you. A forever friend,” wrote Sarah Mickiewicz.
