Nana Yaa, the daughter of Ghanaian music legend Pat Thomas, has shared an emotional account of her life, revealing how her father’s rejection played a significant role in her journey toward blindness.
In a heart-wrenching interview with Deloris Frimpong Manso in the Delay Show, the talented singer opened up about the challenges she faced growing up in a broken home.
According to Nana Yaa, her father’s lack of support during her formative years left an indelible mark on her. The emotional pain and stress she endured as a result of his rejection contributed to a series of health complications that eventually led to her losing her sight and that of her younger brother.
“I never thought I would find myself in such a position. The pain of being rejected by someone who should be your biggest supporter was overwhelming. It affected not just my emotions but my health as well. I lost my younger brother when we went to live in Liberia. Even then, my father couldn’t make time to see us. He was in Germany performing when he was informed of my younger brother’s death.” Nana Yaa disclosed.
She also revealed how she was forced to stay with people after her mother and father abandoned her at a tender age. Today, as a married woman with two kids, Nana Yaa is doing everything in her power to make sure the past mistakes are not repeated.
