A 23-year-old Dallas woman, Alyssa Rodriguez, whose drunk driving led to the death of her friend is facing charges of intoxication manslaughter, the Dallas Police Department (DPD) has announced.
Rodriguez was driving around 2:45 a.m. Sunday at Northwest Highway and North Buckner Boulevard when she lost control of her vehicle and crashed, killing her friend, 23-year-old Sarah Gonzalez in the passenger seat.
Dallas PD believe she was driving under the influence at the time of the crash. Gonzalez died at the scene while Rodriguez was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. She has been charged with intoxication manslaughter by the DPD, who continue to investigate the crash.
The incident shocked social media users, who described Rodriguez’s behaviour as inexcusable in this day and age.
“In times of Uber/Lyft, this shouldn’t happen,” one user wrote.
