Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), isn’t holding back in his criticism of the Electoral Commission’s (EC) re-collation of parliamentary election results. He’s calling it a “cantata” staged by the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Taking to X, Gyamfi reassured NDC supporters, making it clear that the party is determined to win the battle for electoral justice.
“Comrades, he who laughs last, laughs best. Ignore the ‘cantata’ exercise they’re calling ‘re-collation’ by the NPP-controlled EC. We’ll have the last laugh after January 7. Chill!” Gyamfi wrote, urging his followers to stay calm.
The re-collation, which saw the NPP winning seven out of nine contested constituencies, has sparked outrage within the NDC. The party has rejected the results, accusing the process of being “illegal, manipulated, and a betrayal of Ghana’s democracy.” They claim the EC is engaged in an “assault on democracy,” with allegations of collusion between the commission, the police, and the military to favor the NPP.
Gyamfi’s comments have ignited a heated debate online, with many NDC supporters expressing their anger over how the EC handled the election. The NDC believes the whole re-collation was a deliberate effort to destabilize the country for political gain.
