John Darrel Schultz, of Kempner, has been identified by the Texas Department of Pubic Safety as the suspect who drove into a mall and hit several people with his car before being shot dead.
A suspect drove his car into the Killeen mall, driving into the front of a JC Penney Store, shattering the glass and exposing scores of people to danger.
The then unidentified suspect continued driving his black pickup, moving about 100 yards while hitting multiple people with his car. The DPS said he injured multiple people before an officer shot and killed him.
The attack left four people injured with injuries ranging from minor to severe. Only one fatality was recorded.
The Texas Department of Public Safety released a statement Sunday identifying the deceased.
“The suspect in the Killeen Mall incident has been identified as 53-year-old John Darrel Schultz of Kempner,” the statement read.
No other information about the suspect is currently available publicly. This story will be updated once more information surfaces.
