Angelina Camillia Gonzales, Azusa High School Cheerleader Killed in Gruesome Stabbing

Angelina Gonzalez, a student with the Azusa High School in Azusa, California, has been reported dead by school authorities.

A statement from the Azusa Unified School District announced the sad news.

“With profound sadness, we share the tragic passing of Angelina Gonzales, a 12th-grade student at Azusa High School and a cherished member of our school community. Angelina was an exceptional young woman whose talents and energy touched the lives of so many around her,” the statement read.

The deceased was a dedicated member of the school’s cheer squad, the statement continued, adding that she was also an extraordinary artist who won 1st place in the Congressional Art Competition in June. In 2022, Angelina won the Judge’s Choice Award.

The school expressed condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.

“Our hearts go out to Angelina’s family and friends… Let’s honor Angelina’s memory by holding her family in our thoughts and embracing one another with care and compassion,” the statement concluded.

Gonzales, 17, was stabbed to death in Azusa on Friday night, Dec. 20. An 18-year-old boy was arrested for the crime.

Azusa Police Department were called to the 300 block of North Soldano Avenue, near Third Street and west of the Azusa High School West Campus around 10 p.m. Friday in response to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon. They located the victim, who was suffering from stab wounds.

She was transported to a hospital, where she was declared dead.

The suspect was known to Gonzales and was later identified as her ex-boyfriend that her stepfather said he warned her to stay away from.

Social media users expressed shock at the tragic turn of events.

“This is terrible. This poor family. So young and beautiful. I hope justice is served in honor of her. Rest in paradise beauty. I am sorry that you were robbed your life and taken from your family,” one comment read.

A GoFundMe was established to raise money to help her family.

Titled In Memory of our ‘Angelina Camillia Gonzales’, the fundraiser read: “On friday December 20, 2024 my baby was taken from us. She was only 17 about to have her 18th birthday on January 7th. She had such a great future a head of her. She had a heart of gold. She was my perfect gorgeous Angel baby. I don’t even have the words to say. I can’t even cope. I need her. Our family is devastated. We appreciate all the support and love. Thank you all.”

The fundraiser has so far raised $16,530 out of an initial goal of $10,000.
