Alan Gonzalez, a second year teacher with the San Antonio Independent School District (ISD), is being mourned after his tragic death in a car accident.

Gonzalez’s death occurred Saturday, December 21st, 2024 in an unfortunate traffic collision in San Antonio, according to his family.

Letty Gonzalez announced the sad news in a Facebook post that subsequently went viral. “Our beloved youngest son and brother, Alan González, passed away yesterday, December 21, in a car accident in San Antonio,” she wrote. “Alan loved playing, coaching, and refereeing volleyball, and his spirit will always be on the court,”

Gonzalez joined San Antonio ISD for year 2023/24, after graduating from the University of Incarnate Word in 2022. He attended Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North High School, graduating in 2018. He was named the rising star teacher at San Antonio ISD for 2023-2024, his first year on the job.

Gonzalez’s family will announce funeral details in due time.

“Suddenly losing a sibling is the type of pain you never really prepare for.,” sibling Adrian Gonzalez mourned in a Facebook post. “Alan has been my best friend for my entire life, I never thought I’d see a day without him. He was the life of every party and could make anyone laugh,”
