Scott Romei, Celebrated Granville Plumber Mourned After Taking Own Life

Scott Romei, a well-known plumber in the Granville OH area has died after committing suicide.

Romei, 42, took his own life after a losing battle against his internal demons, according to an emotional statement released in the wake of his passing.

“He wore his sorrow like armor, shielding the world from a storm of emotions; too often, the strong man bears the burden of invisibility as they grapple with their deepest demons,” the statement read. “Misunderstood and battered, he danced on the edge of light and darkness, a tragic reminder that the brightest hearts can hide the stormiest battles within,”

Romei, of Granville, graduated Granville High in 2000 with his diploma. In 1997, he started working in the family business, Frank Romei & Son Plumbing, a job he held till his untimely death.

Scott’s plumbing chops made him a household name in the Granville area and many who knew him are in mourning.

“RIP Scott Romei. Thank you for all that you did to keep Granville “On Line” and DRY,” one such post read.

Scott had a tumultuous life, making news both for right and wrong reasons in the past. According to the Newark Advocate, he won $1m in Powerball in 2014, and in 2020, he was placed on trial for firing off a gun at a man staying at his home. Romei, due to prior drugs and felonious convictions, faced 8 years in jail if convicted.
