Being Tagged A Slay Queen Negatively Affected My Career And Some Of My Colleagues Didn’t Want To Work With Me – Salma Mumin

Ghanaian actress and fashion entrepreneur Salma Mumin has recently shared her thoughts on the challenges of being labelled a “slay queen”—a tag that has, at times, negatively impacted her personal and professional life.

Speaking to Nana Romeo in recent interview on Accra FM, Salma Mumin revealed that this stereotype led some of her colleagues to feel hesitant to collaborate with her.

“Being tagged as a slay queen had a negative impact on me to the extent that some of my colleagues felt shy to work with me,” she admitted.

She also disclosed how she got a gig and after one of her colleagues found out she was also on the project, the person decided to pull out. Salma expressed how sad and depressed she became after that encounter. This made her wonder of people didn’t like her because of the ‘slay queen’ tag.

Meanwhile, Salma has successfully cemented her brand as a leading fashion icon in Ghana, partnering with several high-profile celebrities who model her designs and purchase her clothing. Her brand, ‘Lure By Salma’ has become synonymous with style, class, and trendsetting, as many well-known faces proudly wear her pieces on social media and at events.
