Ghanaian former musician and current Member of Parliament elect for Gomoa Central in the Central Region, Kwame A Plus has criticized the silence of key institutions and groups, such as the Christian Council, civil society organizations like the Danquah Institute, and prominent Akan voices over the current power crises Ghana.
According to Kwame A Plus, these groups, which have historically been vocal during crises, have remained silent in the face of the current power crisis under President Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration.
He called them out for being bias and hypocritical, especially with how they openly criticised the previous administration under John Dramani Mahama.
In his statement on Facebook, A Plus took direct aim at the Christian Council, urging them to act with the same courage as Christ, who fearlessly confronted the Pharisees.
“Speak now or forever hold your peace! Be like Christ, who was unbiased and fearless. Look the nation in the eye and tell the truth,” A Plus wrote.
He further criticized the Council for what he perceives as a pattern of reserving their voices for when the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is in power.
“Do not wait for John Mahama to be sworn in before you start speaking out, like Balaam’s donkey in the Bible. You are human beings, not donkeys—act like it!” A Plus emphasized.
