Empress Gifty recounted a time of her mother selling her last piece of cloth just to pay her school fees. She also shared how, during a festive season, her mother was unable to buy her a Christmas dress.

Instead, she encouraged her to hawk foodstuffs around the neighbourhood to earn some money for small necessities. These moments, she revealed, were some of the hardest yet most defining periods of her life.

Tragically, Empress Gifty recently lost her beloved mother on a Saturday, December 14, 2024.

In reflecting on her mother’s passing, the gospel musician expressed her profound gratitude for the sacrifices her mother made, noting that these acts of selflessness shaped her life and career. She added that witnessing her mother’s struggles motivated her to make it her mission to bring her joy and ensure she lived a comfortable life.
