Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has called for the expulsion of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo from the New Patriotic Party (NPP). In a recent appearance on United Showbiz, A Plus, who is the Member of Parliament-elect for Gomoa Central, expressed his frustration with Akufo-Addo’s leadership, accusing him of damaging the party’s tradition and contributing to its poor performance in the 2024 elections.
A Plus argued that the NPP’s defeat was largely due to Akufo-Addo’s unpopular policies, such as the controversial haircut on investments and the betting tax. These policies, he claimed, alienated the youth and impoverished the middle class. He further emphasized that anyone who voted against Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia did so because of their dissatisfaction with Akufo-Addo’s administration.
Surprised that the party even attempted to campaign for the 2024 elections, A Plus urged the NPP to unite in these challenging times. He called for Akufo-Addo’s removal from the party and advocated for the rebuilding of the NPP into a strong opposition that could better serve the interests of Ghanaians and improve the nation’s democracy.
