‘Akufo-Addo Is An Opportunist And Self-Centered’ – A Plus Speaks On His Fallout With The President

Published by

Kwame A Plus, the newly elected Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, has openly criticized President Nana Akufo-Addo, accusing him of being opportunistic and self-centered. In a candid interview on TV3’s Ghana Decides with Johnnie Hughes, A Plus shared the reasons behind his fallout with the president and his eventual departure from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

A Plus explained that after Akufo-Addo’s victory in the 2016 elections, he, along with other loyal supporters of the president, began distancing themselves from the administration due to frustrations with the behavior of some of Akufo-Addo’s appointees. Despite their efforts to address these issues, A Plus claimed that the president ignored their concerns, leading to a breakdown in their relationship. “President Akufo-Addo is an opportunist and self-centered,” A Plus said. “When some of his appointees were misbehaving and we tried to call them to order, he ignored us. That’s when the rift began. Since then, we haven’t spoken.”

He also revealed that the only reason the president eventually reached out to him was because of the 2020 elections. “Kennedy Agyapong was the one who made me speak to the president on the phone after years of silence,” he explained. “But for him, the president would never have reached out to me.” A Plus added that Akufo-Addo called him two weeks before the 2022 elections, seeking his support due to concerns about his reelection.
