One of the members of the NPP communications team, Benjamin Gyewu-Appiah, who had disclosed that he was going to take his life if NPP loses the election has changed his mind.
Gyewu-Appiah had declared a few days before the election that he would douse himself in kerosene and light himself on fire if NDC won the elections.
In a surprising U-turn, Gyewu-Appiah now claims his earlier statement was not meant literally but was made in the heat of political discourse. “It was all political talk,” he said, emphasizing that his intent was to rally support for his party rather than follow through with such drastic measures.
This was after John Dramani Mahama, the NDC Presidential candidate was declared the winner of the Presidential elections.
He claimed that he didn’t mean what he said earlier and promised to never make such remarks in the near future.
