Jean Mensah Officially Announces John Dramani Mahama As The Winner Of The 2024 Presidential Elections With 56.55%

In a historic announcement made a few minutes ago, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa, officially declared former President John Dramani Mahama as the winner of the 2024 Presidential Elections.

According to the Electoral Commission’s figures, Mahama secured a decisive 56.55% of the valid votes cast, cementing his comeback to lead Ghana once more.

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the candidate for the ruling party, garnered 4,657,304 votes, representing 41.61% of the total votes cast. While the announcement marks a significant turning point in Ghana’s political landscape, the Electoral Commission (EC) revealed that results from nine constituencies are yet to be received.

Jean Mensa addressed the press at 6 PM, an hour and a half later than the originally scheduled time of 4:30 PM, citing technical challenges that delayed the commencement of the announcement. She apologised for the delay, assuring the public that the Electoral Commission remained committed to transparency and accuracy throughout the collation process.

“The Electoral Commission is yet to receive results from nine constituencies,” Jean Mensa disclosed. “However, based on the data collated from the rest of the constituencies, we are confident in declaring John Dramani Mahama as the winner of the 2024 Presidential Elections with 56.55% of the valid votes cast.”

The declaration has sparked jubilations in parts of the country as supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) take to the streets to celebrate their candidate’s victory.

As the nation awaits the final update from the nine remaining constituencies, the focus now shifts to the President-elect and his plans for addressing the challenges facing Ghana in his second tenure.
