A farmer in the Afigya Kwabre North constituency of the Ashanti Region has reportedly stumbled upon two suspected ballot boxes hidden in the bush, which has triggered widespread outrage and concern within the local community, raising serious questions about the credibility of the electoral process.
The farmer discovered the boxes while tending to his crops and promptly reported the incident to local authorities. He alleged that thugs linked to the the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) were involved in secretly transporting and abandoning the boxes under the cover of darkness.
One of the boxes, labeled as a parliamentary ballot box, bore the serial number 290401B and was tagged with the polling station Abrim Ahenkro. The other, marked as a presidential ballot box, carried the serial number 529060 and was reportedly assigned to DA/Primary School Duaponko.
Local police have launched an investigation to verify the authenticity of the ballot papers and uncover the full scope of the alleged malpractice.
