Controversial evangelist Patricia Oduro Asiedua, famously known as Nana Agradaa, has once again found herself at the center of attention. This time, it’s for her spirited celebration of John Mahama’s victory in the 2024 presidential elections. The self-styled woman of God, who not too long ago was prophesying a win for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, pulled an unexpected U-turn, hosting a vibrant thanksgiving service to honor Mahama’s triumph.
The viral video from the event shows Agradaa and her congregation dancing jubilantly, waving NDC flags, and thanking God for “an answered prayer.” But netizens were quick to call her out, reminding her of her infamous prophecy in which she boldly declared Bawumia as the winner. Even more dramatically, she promised to return to her shrine as a chief priestess if her prophecy didn’t come true. Well, spoiler alert: it didn’t, and she’s still in church.
To make matters even more interesting, Agradaa took a moment during the service to commend Dr. Bawumia for graciously conceding defeat. But her praise didn’t come without a sting. She expressed frustration that Bawumia ignored her earlier “prophetic advice” about his dress code. “Bawumia wore blue, and I complained to my husband about that. Even on voting day, he wore a white top and black trousers. Meanwhile, Mahama wore white!” she exclaimed, clearly still miffed.
Agradaa lamented that people don’t take her prophecies seriously because of her past as a fetish priestess. “When I prophesy or give a direction, people disregard it because they still have this perception that I was a chief priestess,” she cried out.
Her sudden switch from prophesying Bawumia’s victory to celebrating Mahama’s win has left Ghanaians buzzing online. Many netizens have been quick to blast her for the U-turn, calling her out for conveniently “forgetting” her earlier promises.
Whatever the case, Agradaa has once again managed to stay in the headlines. Love her or hate her, she’s clearly mastered the art of keeping Ghanaians talking.
