Akua Donkor’s Ghana Freedom Party Backs NDC For Upcoming Elections

The Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), founded by the late Akua Donkor, has officially thrown its support behind the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its flagbearer, former President John Dramani Mahama, ahead of the December 7, 2024, general elections. This endorsement follows the disqualification of the GFP’s presidential candidate, Philip Appiah Kubi, also known as Roman Fada, by the Electoral Commission (EC) due to irregularities in his nomination forms.

Jerry Addo, the GFP’s Deputy General Secretary, announced the decision during a press briefing on December 4, 2024. He explained that the endorsement came after extensive consultations within the party’s leadership and was driven by shared values and policy goals rather than external influences.

“The Ghana Freedom Party is supporting the candidature of H.E. John Dramani Mahama on Saturday. He is poised to capture power to save Ghanaians,” Addo declared. He emphasized that the GFP had carefully reviewed the manifestos and policies of various political parties and candidates before making their choice.

This endorsement is a significant move for the GFP, as they rally their supporters to back John Dramani Mahama and NDC parliamentary candidates in the upcoming elections. With this alliance, the GFP joins a growing coalition of voices supporting the NDC’s vision for Ghana.
