‘My Dad Taught Me Not To Question God’ – Davido Shares

Published by

Nigerian music star David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has shared how his father’s teachings about faith and resilience have shaped his outlook on life. In a heartfelt conversation on Rollingout’s podcast, the singer spoke about his upbringing in a Christian home and how his father’s unwavering belief in God became a source of strength during life’s most challenging moments.

Davido fondly recalled growing up under the guidance of his father, a successful businessman and elder in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. “My dad is very successful, but he’s also an elder in the church. I grew up as a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and even attended a Christian college,” he said, reflecting on the values instilled in him from a young age.

One piece of advice from his father has stood out through the years: never question God. Davido admitted he initially struggled with this perspective, especially during tough times. “I overcame a lot of challenges because of my dad. At first, I didn’t understand. I used to be angry and ask, ‘Why do bad things happen to good people?’ And my dad told me, ‘You can’t question God,’” he shared.

This lesson took on deeper meaning for Davido following the heartbreaking loss of his son, Ifeanyi. While grappling with the pain, his father’s words offered comfort and perspective. “I was like, ‘What do you mean you can’t question God?’ But then a year later, we were blessed with twins, I released the biggest album of my career, and I got my first Grammy nominations. It started to make sense. Life comes with challenges, but God always has your back,” he reflected.

Davido’s candid testimony has touched the hearts of many, inspiring fans with his journey of faith and resilience.
