Samuel Grumet, Former Saugus High School Lacrosse Star turned Navy Seal Recruit Tragically Dies

Samuel Grumet, a former lacrosse standout for Saugus High School in California has died following a tragic car accident.

Grumet’s death occurred on Wednesday, November 27th, 2024, his family announced.

“We lost my amazing nephew Samuel in a tragic accident this week. He should’ve turned 18 in December and our family is absolutely heartbroken,” his aunty Jenny wrote. “Samuel was incredibly smart – cruised through AP calculus as a junior, earned one of the highest scores on the Navy entrance test, and had just received his contract to start Seal school this summer.”

The post said the Grumet was excited about getting the chance to serve his adopted nation.

“He was so excited about serving his country and I can’t overstate how proud I am of his accomplishments,” Jenny said.

Samuel had been adopted from Ethiopia by his parents just before he turned 4 years old. He grew into a talented lacrosse player, starring for Saugus High School.

“Oh Kristen. The post won’t show but I’m so very sorry for your loss. I just can’t imagine,” one user shared condolences to the deceased family on Facebook.
