Life coach John Amponsah has weighed in on the debate about men helping their wives with household chores, stating that while he supports the idea, certain boundaries should be respected.
Speaking in an interview on GH One TV, Amponsah revealed that he is comfortable washing his wife’s clothes, including her underwear, but refuses to hang them out to dry.
“You have to protect your image and be careful with certain things,” he explained. “I can wash for you, but if you can’t walk and hang them yourself, I would have a problem with it. I won’t hang it because I have to protect my image.”
Amponsah also called on women to keep such acts of support private and avoid discussing them publicly, as it could disrespect their husbands. He noted, “A woman who goes out and tells people her husband is washing her panties is disrespecting herself. I can help, but don’t create the impression that your man is foolish. It should be kept private.”
He further advised men to take on their responsibilities as providers in the home to prevent being taken advantage of. According to Amponsah, maintaining a balance in household roles ensures respect and prevents men from being reduced to mere helpers or slaves in their own homes.
