Gavin Barooah, Former Roxbury High School Hockey Star Killed in Accident

Gavin Barooah, a former hockey star for Roxbury High School in New Jersey has been killed following a car accident on Thanksgiving Day.

Barooah’s death occurred around 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 29th, 2024 at the intersection of Sussex Turnpike and Morris Turnpike in Randolph when his Mercedes-Benz collided with a Jeep.

Barooah, of Ledgewood, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident while the driver of the Jeep sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at a local hospital.

News of Barooah’s death stunned the Roxbury community with many taking to social media to express their condolences.

“Prayers to the Barooah family. No words at all. God Bless Gavin,” one shocked tribute read.

Another wrote: “Such a tremendous loss we love you and will forever miss you Gavin Barooah was in a car accident last night and passed away on impact. He was the most beautiful person so kind and loved by everyone please pray for his family,”

Gavin Barooah starred for the Roxbury High School Hockey team, appearing on the team from his freshman through senior year. The class of 24′ graduate grew into himself his final couple of years, nabbing 7 goals, 12 assists and 19 points his junior year and an equally impressive 11 goals, 4 assists, and 15 points as a senior.
