Bodhi Defer, a 7-year-old from Arizona died following a tragic September incident, according to a GoFundMe fundraiser that has so far raised over $50,000.
Bodhi passed away on September 10th, 2024, three days after being found unresponsive. He was sent to hospital in critical condition but despite prayers and the best of the medical staff could not be revived.
The late Bodhi was born to Matthew and Brittany DeFer on February 18th 2017, according to his obituary. He had two siblings, Braxton (13) and Juniper (11). Bodhi loved kickball, Mario, Marvel and Pokémon, according to his family.
The GoFundMe, organized by Ashlee Dayton of Queen Creek, said: “Bodhi has such a zest for life & is so loved by everyone around him. This is going to take time & resources for them to be able to navigate & manage. We appreciate any help for my sweet family to get through this devastating & life changing event.” With an initial goal of $50,000, they managed to raise $54,5446.
The Franklin AZ family were also remembered in their time of grief by organizations they were tied to. The Franklin at Brimhall Parent Organization said; “It is with a heavy heart that I share some deeply saddening news. Our FAA Brimhall Campus community lost one of its bright young members, Bodhi Defer, a beloved second grader. Bodhi was a valued part of our school and a cherished friend to many. His boundless energy, zest for life, and infectious smile brought joy to everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his classmates, teachers, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.”
Meanwhile, the Fit Body Boot Camp of Arizona, where mom Brittany worked, expressed their condolences to her and the family at large. The company held a candlelight vigil at North Gilbert Fit Body Boot Camp in honor of Bodhi.
