Ghanaian musician Safo Newman, known for hits like Akokoa, Miss Issabela, and Sorrow Fly, recently opened up about the challenges he’s faced since rising to fame.
In an interview on Hitz FM with Andy Dosty, Safo revealed that some people have suggested he take illegal drugs to boost his confidence and energy during performances. Despite the advice, he firmly stated, “I won’t be doing that. I don’t think I can do that,” stressing that he remains true to his identity.

Safo acknowledged that his calm demeanor on stage, a result of his introverted personality, has drawn criticism from some who don’t recognize the differences in individual temperaments. He explained that while some may expect a more “wild” performance, he is committed to staying authentic to who he is.

The singer, has also faced backlash over his fashion choices and what some perceive as a lack of stage presence. Despite the criticism, Safo remains focused on improving his performance and music.
