Renowned Nigerian actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, affectionately known as RMD, has thrown his support behind John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), ahead of Ghana’s 2024 presidential election.
In a recent interview with JoyNews, RMD praised Mahama’s accomplishments during his previous tenure as president, particularly his contributions to infrastructure development. The actor expressed admiration for Mahama’s legacy, highlighting the construction of key projects like the airport. “Every time I pass through the airport, I’m reminded that he was the one who built it,” RMD remarked.
Although he has never met Mahama in person, RMD revealed that many of his Ghanaian friends have spoken highly of the former president’s achievements. He urged Ghanaians to choose a leader who genuinely has their best interests at heart. “They shouldn’t make the mistake that other Africans want them to make. They should vote for the best man, someone who has their back,” he stated.
RMD openly shared his personal preference for Mahama, saying, “My favourite is Mahama because I like him.”
As Ghana prepares for the December 7 general elections, the political landscape has become a hotbed of debate. The two major parties, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition NDC, are at the center of discussions, with citizens divided over whether to extend the NPP’s rule under Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia or to bring back John Dramani Mahama.
RMD’s endorsement adds a fresh perspective to the conversation, underscoring the need for leadership that prioritizes the well-being of the people.
