They Should Have Even Given Bawumia 87% – Ghanaians React as New Poll Puts Bawumia at 49% and Mahama at 45%

A new poll from Dr Smart Sarpong, a pollster and statistician at the Kumasi Technical University, has predicted a run-off in the 2024 General Elections.

Dr Sarpong, who is the Associate Professor of Statistics at KTU, revealed NPP candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is leading the elections with 49.1% of votes followed by former President John Dramani Mahama on 45.8%.

New Force Presidential candidate, Nana Kwame Bediako is at 2.2%. while Alan John Kyeremateng predicted to secure 1.2%.

The comprehensive survey was conducted across 4,272 communities in all 276 constituencies with a sample of 99,355.

The survey has divided opinion online with some social media users happy that the NPP is leading while others call the poll as wrong.

“He should have given Bawumia 87% that is more realistic. By Dec 9 all this noise will seize.” one user said.

Another wrote: “How can a good presidential candidate win Ashanti, Eastern, Central, Western, ahafo and North East regions and still be in a run off. This shows that the candidate is not a winnable presidential candidate,”
