Controversial Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, has once again found himself in the spotlight due to fresh accusations from his US-based associate, Bintin John. On November 17, 2024, an audio recording surfaced as part of their ongoing dispute over an alleged N4 million debt.
The drama began in September 2024 when social media influencer Martins ‘VDM’ Otse leaked a phone recording where Bobrisky allegedly claimed he paid N15 million to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to drop money laundering charges. VDM alleged that Bobrisky borrowed N4 million from Bintin John to help raise the amount. Bobrisky, however, denied this, asserting that the money was a gift, not a loan, due to the nature of their relationship.
According to Bobrisky, he met Bintin in the United States in 2017 during a meet-and-greet event, for which he paid Bintin $3,000. They kept in touch, and in 2022, Bintin allegedly expressed romantic interest in Bobrisky. Bobrisky claimed he turned him down, believing Bintin could not handle his financial lifestyle. Later, when Bintin heard of Bobrisky’s legal troubles, he reportedly reached out to offer help, sending N4 million to Bobrisky’s brother’s account.
Bobrisky explained that Bintin’s actions were voluntary and not a loan, but things turned sour when Bobrisky didn’t fulfill a promise to take a trip with Bintin after his release from EFCC custody. This, Bobrisky claims, led to Bintin demanding a refund of the money. Bobrisky has maintained that he never borrowed the money, emphasizing that it was given out of goodwill.
