Ghanaian reggae/dancehall star Stonebwoy has strongly criticized artist manager Ike Otoo Arhin, also known as Gomski, for his recent comments about the dancehall genre. During an interview on 3Music’s Culture Daily, Gomski described dancehall music as one of the biggest problems facing the Ghanaian music industry. Stonebwoy, however, dismissed the claim as “irresponsible” and demanded an apology.
Appearing on 3Music’s Big Conversation’ Stonebwoy defended dancehall’s importance, highlighting its major contributions to Ghana’s music scene. “That is an irresponsible talk from him,” he said. “Mugeez is his artiste, and we all know how big and well-respected he is in the Ghana music industry. So, that statement from Gomski, I think if he retracts his words, it would do well for us as an industry.”
Stonebwoy also spoke passionately about his dedication to the genre, noting its cultural significance. “This is the music of Black origin. I studied this in school and I have invested money into my craft, so, I would not allow someone who has not invested a penny to talk foul about the dancehall music,” he added.
