Tommy Alverson, a country music icon famous on the Texas country scene has died, his wife has announced.
Amy Carol Alverson announced the sad news of Tommy’s passing on Facebook on Thursday, Novembwe 14th, 2024. No cause of death was given.
“…. I’m going to need a little while, but I’ll be posting soon… until then just know that ; just like the lucky ol sun, he’s got nothing to do but roll around Heaven all day….” Amy wrote.
Her post quickly triggered waves of tribute to Tommy Alverson from all who knew and had loved him over the years.
“We lost a good man today.” wrote Gary Nunn. “Rest in peace Tommy Alverson Our Condolences to Amy and the whole family.”
Said Cornell Hurd: “Tommy Alverson has left us. He was a real talent and a great friend to all of us. Some of the best gigs we ever played were his Family Gatherings. I was lucky to have known him.”
Alverson, of Mineral Wells was a staple on the Texas country music scene for decades, known for his “tapping, soul-stirring tunes”, according to his bio.
Influenced by Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and other, Alverson brought “his own unique flair to the genre, blending traditional country with hints of folk and rock. His music is a journey through love, heartbreak, and the simple joys of life, all set to melodies that you can’t help but dance along to”, his bio said.
Originally from Itasca, Tommy graduated Itasca High School and proceeded to Hill College. He was married to Amy Carol Alverson who was instrumental to his career.
Amy shared no cause of death but her recent posts indicated Tommy was feeling unwell in the days leading to his demise.
