Jennifer Koue, a student midwife at the Southwest Wisconsin Technical College, is being heavily mourned following her death in a tragic accident.
Koue, of Silver Springs, Maryland, died in the crash Tuesday, November 12th, 2024. She had also been working at Birthwise Midwifery at the time of her death.
Southwest Wisconsin announced the tragic news in a lengthy post that also paid tribute to a dedicated and passionate healthcare worker.
“It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we share the news of the unexpected and tragic passing of Jennifer Koue, a dedicated student in our SWTC Midwifery Program,” the post, shared on Facebook., read. “Jennifer was not only a promising midwife in training but also a beloved member of her community.
Her presence, warmth, and dedication touched us all, and we find ourselves struggling to find the words to express the depth of our grief.”
Jennifer had a passion for serving mothers and families, the message continued, describing her as the true embodiment of the best qualities of the midwifery/nursing professions.
“Her loss leaves a void that will be deeply felt across our program and beyond….Jenn will be deeply missed, and her legacy will remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her.”
The school extended its condolences to members of her family, friends and others who had the pleasure of knowing Koue.
An online memorial has been organized for her on Thursday, November 14th at 1pm CST and Monday, November 18th at 1pm CST “for current students, graduates and faculty to attend in honor of Jennifer.”
Deanna Kopf, a superior at Birthwise Midwifery, shared another beautiful tribute to Koue, noting she started out in January and was an exceptional employee.
“She quickly integrated into our practice… she was a dedicated student who was such a shining light in our practice and had the sweetest tender touch with our clients’ newborns,” Kopf wrote. “Please keep Martie and I, as well as her partner, Brandon, and her family in your thoughts as we navigate this transition.”
