Louis Clayton, a police officer with the Windsor Police Department in Connecticut has died, sparking waves of tributes from the law enforcement community.
Clayton, a former Army officer who joined Windsor PD in September 2021, died Friday, November 8th, 2024. No cause of death has been given.
Clayton leaves behind his long-time girlfriend Olivia and two daughters, 3-year-old Zola and 2-year-old Zendaya. To support his surviving family, a GoFundMe has been established to raise some funds.
Windsor PD announced Clayton’s death in a post shared on social media that also attempted to mobilize support for the fundraiser.
“On November 08, 2024, we unexpectedly lost one of our great friends, Louis “The Kidd” Clayton. Louis was a son, a father, and a friend/co-worker to many.” Windsor PD said in the fundraiser. “Louis joined the Windsor Police Department in September of 2021 after serving in the US Army. Louis was admired and respected by all who worked with him. He was best known for his sense of humor and as being a friend to everyone who ever met him.”
An avid lover of cars, Louis was said to love nothing more than his two daughters. The fundraiser is to raise funds for his funeral arrangements, added expenses for his family and the future education of his two beautiful girls.
With the support of many members of Windsor PD and additional support from other brothers in blue including Winchester CT Police Department and Bloomfield CT Police Department, the GoFundMe, with a goal of $30,000, has already raised over $25,000 at the time of publication.
Members of the public also shared their messages of support and condolences, with many noting Louis was a dedicated police officer.
“I’ve seen him out patrolling a few times. I never got to talk with him, but I could tell how dedicated he was to public service and safety. So sad to hear about this. My condolences to his family, friends, and fellow officers. Rest easy, Officer Clayton,” one person recalled.
