Daniel Hoh was an American doctor turned Hollywood writer known for his work on Grey’s Anatomy and its spin-off, Station 19.
Hoh passed away in October 2024 and was remembered by Grey Anatomy’s in a title card tribute on its latest episode aired Thursday, November 7th.

Daniel K. Hoh was born in Potomac, Maryland. He pursued higher education at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience. He then attended Vanderbilt University, where he obtained his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.
Hoh worked as an Emergency Physician and served as a Clinical Instructor of Emergency Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, a job he held from 2009 till his death. His medical expertise was not only limited to practice; he also contributed to public health initiatives globally, participating in projects in countries like Sierra Leone, Peru, and Cambodia, focusing on community development and healthcare delivery systems
Hoh transitioned into television writing and was mostly known for his work as a writer and producer on Station 19, a spinoff of the popular series Grey’s Anatomy. He joined the show in 2018 and contributed as an executive story editor until 2022, enhancing the show with medical knowledge and writing skills.
His previous writing credits also include the short film Sierra Leone: Darkness to Light and the series Hollywood Medical Minute. He was also an uncredited staff writer for 12 episodes of the tv show Pure Genius between 2016/2017.
Daniel K. Hoh was married to Deborah King, a lawyer who later transitioned into corporate healthcare. The couple met in 2010 and married in 2013. They shared one child.
Hoh passed away on October 11, 2024, at the age of 45. His death was mourned by colleagues and fans alike, reflecting on his contributions to both medicine and television storytelling.
