Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, has sparked discussions online following statements made during his recent campaign tour in Yendi, where he met with the Overlord of Dagbon. Addressing the gathering, NAPO emphasized the importance of Muslims supporting Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, a fellow Muslim and Northern candidate, rather than the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
NAPO made his stance clear, saying, “If you are a Muslim and you vote for the NDC, it is a haram.” He further added, “If you are an Imam and you pray for Mahama to win instead of Bawumia, it is also a haram.”
In his speech, NAPO suggested that the NDC often seeks votes from Muslims and Northerners without genuinely prioritizing their interests. He commented, “The NDC only uses Muslims and Northerners for votes; they don’t truly work to uplift their communities.”
NAPO’s statements come amid an intense campaign season, with candidates emphasizing their connections to various communities across Ghana.
