Ghana’s President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has come under heavy fire from African and Western Twitter users after unveiling a statue of himself.
The BBC reported on the new statue installed outside the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi by the failed President.
Akufo-Addo unveiled the statue during a recent trip to the Western Region. The statue is supposedly to honor him for all the good works he had done in the region.
However, the projects the President are being honored for, including a promise to turn the Effia-Nkwanta hospital into a Teaching Hospital, have not been fulfiled.
Twitter users mostly from other African countries and even Western countries jumped in the replies to mock Ghana’s President.
“African leaders are selfish and shameless,” one South African lady commented.
Another said: “A statue? Shouldn’t leadership be measured by results, not monuments?”
